Minutes of the meeting of Baston Parish Council held in The Barn on Thursday 10th September 2020
Present Cllrs:  A Hutchins, B Easey, J Kelly, D Plant, T Palmer
Members of the public: None
Chairman’s Remarks – Cllr Hutchins thanked Cllr Plant for his efforts with the bin sticker campaign in the village. Cllr Hutchins reminded the councillors that all future Parish Council meetings would have to be conducted remotely for the foreseeable future due to the new government restrictions coming into force on Monday 14th September 2020.

Election of Vice-Chairman - Cllr Plant was nominated. Proposed by Cllr Kelly, seconded by Cllr Easey, all in agreement.

Minutes of the last meeting –
It was resolved that the minutes of the last meeting held 9th July 2020 be approved and signed as a true and accurate record.  Proposed Cllr Kelly, seconded Cllr Easey all in agreement.

Finance –
Payments to be made:
Parish Clerk Salary (DD) – £346.63
Community Cleaner – Aug 2020 – £132.80
BDG Mowing - Aug 2020 – £560.00

Highways –
Excessive HGV traffic through village on Main Street. Cllr Hutchins explained that a 7.5 ton weight limit could only be applied in the case of a weak bridge or similar, not purely as a way of reducing HGV traffic. It was suggested that we contact other local parishes such as Greatford and Langtoft to enquire what strategies they might have in mind to solve their own HGV traffic issues. It was also suggested that we contact local businesses that generate HGV traffic to request their co-operation in reducing that traffic coming through the village.
Grass cutting – None
Baston Naturehood –
Cllr Hutchins proposed a £900 donation towards the cost of an ecological survey in the village as part of the ongoing Baston Naturehood initiative. Seconded by Cllr Plant. All in agreement.
Village Concerns – None
Street Furniture –
Noticeboards - David is looking at sorting July/August.
Litter Bins – Check with Cllr Moss regarding their purchase.
Allotments – None
Correspondence –
Mr & Mrs Goldspink re the planning application S20/0452, 36 Main Street.
Reports from Outside Bodies –
District Cllrs – Report circulated to all councillors via email prior to meeting.
County Cllr – No Report
BPFMC – Activities will be greatly affected by the new government restrictions.
Neighbourhood Panel – No Report
